Offering an alternative to ear syringing, Hopi candling involves a specially designed hollow candle being inserted just inside the ear canal.
The candles are infused with beneficial herbs and essential oils (often natural ingredients, including beeswax, honey extract, sage, St Johns Wort, chamomile, beta-carotene and organically grown flax) and work in the same way as a chimney does causing mild suction in the ear allowing impurities to be drawn out safely and painlessly.
As well as being incredibly relaxing, this ancient and natural therapy can offer relief from issues such as congestion, sinus problems, compacted ear wax, tinnitus and headaches. The treatment works to rebalance your body’s natural flow, leaving you feeling calm and relaxed.

How Does Hopi Ear Candles Work?
Your therapist will ensure your comfort throughout the treatment. Following a consultation, your treatment will start with you being asked to lie on your side before the candle is delicately placed inside your ear. The candle will then be lit, this causes a small, gentle vibration that travels down the ear canal.
The hot air then works to draw out impurities, loosen earwax and improve nasal and sinus airflow. On average the treatment takes around 45 minutes and includes a relaxing massage of the outer ear.
Is There Any Reason Not To Have A Hopi Ear Candle Treatment?
During your consultation, your experienced Melanie Richards Beauty Therapist will ask a few questions to ensure the treatment is right for you and that you do not have any diagnosed medical conditions that could affect the treatment and the results.
It is advisable not to use Hopi candles if :
*You have grommets or tubes in your ears
*You have had recent ear surgery
*You have had a perforated ear drum
*If there is inflammation or infection in your ear
*If you are allergic to the candle ingredients
