Melanie is the co-owner of Melanie Richards Hair & Beauty, which she runs alongside her husband, Richard. Together, they opened the salon in 2011 and have since built a highly respected presence across Peterborough and the surrounding areas.

Specialising in colour, Melanie is the go-to expert within the team for support, guidance, and advanced colour knowledge. She holds multiple professional colour qualifications within the hairdressing industry and is also an educator for the global brand Great Lengths Hair Extensions, working across shows, stages, and industry events.

Melanie loves creating bespoke looks for every client — from enhancing natural hair with subtle fullness through tailored filler services to dramatic transformations adding length, volume, and impact. She truly believes hair extensions are for everyone and takes pride in helping clients achieve their hair goals, whatever they may be. From soft root melts to bold colour corrections, no challenge is too big, and every service is delivered with care, expertise, and 100% commitment.

Over the years, Melanie has built a strong, supportive team and is deeply passionate about mentoring and encouraging each team member to reach their full potential. Her career highlights include winning Hair Extension Trophy of the Year, being a finalist in multiple national hair extension competitions, working backstage at London Fashion Week, and contributing to professional photoshoots and industry campaigns.

I manage the day-to-day running of the business, including finances, health and safety, and training, ensuring everything runs smoothly so our team can focus on creating amazing experiences for our clients. I’m a qualified business coach and passionate about supporting and guiding our team to reach their full potential.

Over the last 15 years, building the salon alongside my wife, Melanie, has been an incredible journey. I’m proud of the welcoming, professional, and creative space we’ve created, and I genuinely care about every member of our team and every client who walks through our doors.

Alongside my creative role, I also manage stock control, helping to ensure the salon runs smoothly behind the scenes. My true passion in hairdressing is supporting women experiencing menopause-related hair changes and fine hair, helping restore confidence by creating hair that feels thicker, fuller, and healthier. I achieve this through tailored solutions using Great Lengths hair extensions, alongside expert guidance on the supplements we offer.

I specialise in short haircuts and love creating strong, stylish looks for both men and women — and I’m proudly known in the salon for my signature bob cuts! Hello! I’m Honor, Creative Director and Salon Coordinator at Melanie Richards Hair & Beauty. I originally trained here as an apprentice and have now been part of the salon family for over seven years — a journey I’m incredibly proud of.

I absolutely love what I do, and nothing makes me happier than helping clients look and feel their very best. I specialise in Great Lengths hair extensions and lived-in blondes, and I have a real passion for creating beautiful curly haircuts.

Alongside my creative role, I’m also one of the friendly faces helping keep the salon running smoothly day to day. You’ll often find me supporting the team, coordinating appointments, and making sure every client experience feels seamless from start to finish.

I’m honoured to have been a finalist for Hair Extensions of the Year at the Hairdressers Journal Awards two years in a row — recognition I’m deeply proud of as one of the UK’s extension specialists.

Hi, I’m Heather! Originally from Scotland, I recently moved to the area and joined the Melanie Richards Hair & Beauty team in Summer 2025 as a Creative Director — and I absolutely love it here.

One of the things I’m most passionate about is working in an eco-conscious salon that uses ethical, eco-friendly and vegan products. Being part of a business that truly cares about sustainability is something I’m incredibly proud of.

With over 38 years of experience in hairdressing, I bring a wealth of knowledge across cutting, colouring and barbering. I’m especially known for my bold, creative colour work — from wild rainbow transformations to big, dramatic changes. Vivid colour is my happy place, and I love creating looks that make clients feel confident and excited about their hair.

I’m full of banter, love meeting new people, and can’t wait to welcome new faces into the salon while creating beautiful, bespoke hair.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, baking and cooking, and visiting friends and family.

I began my journey at Melanie Richards Hair & Beauty as an apprentice and have proudly worked my way through to graduate stylist. I’ve now been part of the salon for over four years, developing my skills and growing my confidence every step of the way.

Over the past year I’ve trained in Great Lengths hair extensions, and I absolutely love the transformations they create — giving clients luscious, long locks and a real confidence boost. I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of colour and love taking clients on a full hair journey, creating beautiful makeovers from start to finish.

I’m known for being chatty, bubbly, and always open to new ideas. I enjoy working closely with my clients to make their hair the best it can possibly be. No two heads of hair are the same, and I love finding creative ways to bring your vision to life.

Fun fact: I’m actually a twin — but with my own individual style and personality! Outside of the salon I love travelling, exploring new cities, swimming, and heading off on holiday whenever I can.

Hi, I’m Keira, Graduate Stylist at Melanie Richards Hair & Beauty. I’ve been part of the salon for just over a year and am currently building my clientele — and I’m loving every step of my hairdressing journey.

I’m passionate about helping clients look and feel fantastic, bringing a fresh, modern approach combined with the strong education and support of our experienced team. I’ve participated in numerous in-salon training sessions, as well as advanced education courses in London, continuously developing my skills to deliver beautiful, confidence-boosting results.

Precision and attention to detail are important to me, and I take pride in achieving polished, flawless results every time. I’ve also recently trained in our Japanese Head Spa, which is quickly becoming one of my most popular treatments. Hi, I’m Izzy! I originally joined Melanie Richards Hair & Beauty as a receptionist, but with a strong passion for beauty and a Level 2 qualification in Beauty Therapy, I always knew I wanted to progress onto the beauty floor.

Over the past year, I’ve been developing my skills and gaining additional qualifications, and I’m so excited to now be part of the beauty team.

I specialise in lashes and nails, offering classic, hybrid, and light volume lash extensions. I’ve also recently qualified in lash lift and tint, as well as brow lamination — treatments I love for creating effortless, low-maintenance beauty results.

For hands and feet, I provide manicures, pedicures, BIAB/hard gel, hard gel extensions, and classic gel finishes to ensure nails always look flawless and long-lasting.

I thoroughly enjoy my role and love welcoming clients from the moment they arrive through to the finished result. I’m passionate about growing within the industry and becoming a strong, dedicated member of our beauty team.
